Every year since 1951 the Canadian Mental Health Association has held an annual week across Canada with the main goals to promote and protect the mental health of everyone.

This years theme is understanding our emotions. Finding and being able to accept and express our emotions to others no matter what they may be can and will help us all in the battle for positive mental health for everyone.

There are 4 key messages for this years CMHW from the CMHA.


Good mental health isn’t about being happy all the time. In fact, a mentally healthy life includes the full range of human emotions—even the uncomfortable ones like sadness, fear and anger.


The theme of this year’s Mental Health Week is understanding our emotions. Recognizing, labeling and accepting our feelings are all part of protecting and promoting good mental health for everyone.
